Acolytes & Crucifers are youth from Grades 2-12, who serve during our 10:00 am Sunday Worship Service. They carry in the Light and Cross of Christ during the opening hymn and then take them out to the World at the end of the Worship service. The Acolytes & Crucifers serve on a rotating basis. Training for new Acolytes & Crucifers is scheduled for March 2, 2008 at 11:30 am.
Altar Guild serves behind the scenes by changing the Altar Cloths as needed for the appropriate liturgical colors for various services held at the church. They also fill the candles used at the Worship service; make sure there are flowers for the Altar, Narthex and Parlor each Sunday; decorate the Sanctuary for Advent and Easter. Two or three members of the Altar Guild serve each month.
Children’s Church is held during the 10:00 am Sunday Worship Service for children ages three through second grade. The children stay with their parent in the Worship service until they are dismissed following the Children’s Moment.
- The preschool children have rotating volunteers who supervise play. Volunteers are needed weekly.
- For children in K-2, we are following a curriculum called God's Big Picture from Gospel Light. The program follows a timeline from the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. This class is taught by the Children's Church Coordinator, adult volunteers are needed occasionally as a substitute.
Children’s Moment volunteer provides a short Bible story/lesson to the children in the Worship Service at 10:00 am, just prior to being dismissed to Children’s Church.
Communion servers help Rev. Nancy serve communion the first Sunday of each month at the Worship service. There is also opportunity for volunteers to make home visits to those unable to attend communion services at the church.
Counters, along with an assistant, are needed each week following the service to count the tithes and offerings for deposit.
Greeters and Ushers have primary responsibility for helping persons feel welcomed and part of the congregation. Greeters primarily stand at both the front and back entrances to the building greeting people as they enter and help to direct visitors to the Sanctuary, Nursery, etc. Ushers stand at the doors of the Sanctuary handing out bulletins, help to seat people if needed, hand out Assisted Listening Devices, and take up the offering.
Nursery volunteers are needed occasionally to fill in for our paid Nursery Attendant when she is unable to be here and also to assist when there are several infants/toddlers in the Nursery. Our Nursery is available during Sunday School and the Worship service.
A Readers for Announcements and the Scripture Lessons are used each week at both the Sunday Worship service. The Church Office emails or calls the reader during the week with the readings so the reader will feel prepared and comfortable with the material.
