A little help requested…
We need parents, or anyone who would like to have dinner with the youth, to volunteer for Snack Supper on Sunday nights. If you would like to provide dinner for the UMYF on a Sunday, please see the sign up sheet on the youth bulletin board and sign up. Thanks!!
Would anyone like to share a message or a lesson with our youth? We have so much to offer our youth from within these two congregations and it would be such a blessing to share that at UMYF. Please prayfully consider volunteering to lead a short program on a Sunday night, or becoming a youth counselor. I look forward to talking with anyone who is interested!
A huge thanks to the many parents, youth counselors and other congregation members who have helped in so many different ways throughout the year so far!! It is truly a blessing to work with all of you!
What’s been going on…
On January 15th-16th, we participated in the Bi-District (Arlington and Alexandria) Youth Bowling Lock-in. Eight of us joined over two hundred youth from around the area for a Youth Rally at Frindship UMC in Falls Church and then on to the Bowling Alley for fun and fellowship all night and into the morning. We all had a great time with each other and getting to know other youth in the area. Angie Osgood and her friend Jessie bowled all night long, outlasting Michael Osgood, Zach Dailey and Ryan Anger who fell asleep, which they said was by choice, since there was Lacrosse to be played the next day. Will Cantrall played games at the arcade and kept the electronic score card working for all of us.
On January 10th, the ACGF Youth Council met and discussed various upcoming events and ideas for the remainder of the year. The next Council meeting is scheduled for February 7th at 2pm at Andrew Chapel. If you are interested in being on this Council and helping to make our Youth Group as good as it can be, please contact myself, Donna Merrifield or Rev. Nancy Childress. If you would like to come to the meeting to voice anything at all, please do so. We would like to hear from any of the congregation or parents or youth who have thoughts, concerns or ideas about the youth program.
What’s coming up…..
Super Bowl Subs – February 7th at Great Falls UMC. A fundraiser for our youth program! We will be taking orders and making subs at Great Falls in the morning to be picked up after the worship service. (Postponed until a later date due to incoming snow.)
Youth Council Meeting – February 7th at 2pm at Andrew Chapel
MercyMe Concert – February 20th
Jeremiah Project – The applications will be arriving in your mailboxes soon for this Junior High mission trip. The dates for JP this year are June 27th – July 3rd.
